CSI New Orleans!

Have you ever been on an airboat ride through the swamps or Everglades? It’s an experience worth taking – believe me.

Our guide ‘Captain Monkey’ was very entertaining and knowledgeable.  I would have hired him in a flash as a white water rafting guide but he would have had to leave his buddy behind.P2200089

Although the airboats are NOISY! the scenery is incredible – well – except for that Cottonmouth snake we saw and Captain Monkey touching it with a paddle – erm…- anyone seen my heart anywhere lately? I’m sure it left my body when that thing leaped….(not showing the snake – not showing the snake).P2200057

What I liked about it was the fact that everywhere we went was owned by the airboat company and maintained by them as well.

Sometimes there just aren’t words worthy of the view….P2200062

Our destination for that trip was this little guy who had just come out of hibernation. He couldn’t have cared less about us drifting around him – but none of us offered to get in the water and go swim with him.

The only thing about the adventure that upset me (besides the snake) was the fact that ‘Captain Monkey’ wouldn’t let me drive!

Loved the video and the photos. How do you get your photos on your blog at an angle like that?

Yes please- I do love how you have displayed the photos.

Did the river have mud flats at the edges where the birds waded in the video or were those reeds?

The trip looked like a lot of fun.

That looks like fun! Except for the copperhead...

I use Window Live Writer for my posts. You can do pretty much anything you want with photos there.

I like to make them look like a photograph and then tilt them any way I want.

Here's a link if you want to have a look-see.

Wow, that looks stunning - and fun, a lot of fun. And just a teeny bit scarey?

THANK YOU for NOT showing the "you-know-what" - I hesitated for a moment before scrolling down until I read that. That is why I will NEVER go on one of those tours! But I'm very glad you enjoyed it. lol

Hey Leslie - if you go during the 'winter' the reptiles are very groggy and cold. Not fast moving. There are times when you don't see any at all because of hibernation.

I'm telling you this because I'm the queen of being terrified of snakes.

When this Cottonmouth was spotted I froze and The Man said he was amazed that I didn't utter a sound. I was terrified that the thing was going to leap right into the boat somehow and get me of course.

I will NEVER EVER post pics of snakes. NEVER! Promise!!

Loved the video and I'm also glad you didn't post pictures of the "s" word. But, I've also heard how aggressive the cottonmouths are. Glad everything turned out good.

So gorgeous! Me personally I could not be happier that when I'm out on a camping trip but that is remarkable. I've never got to enjoy the water like that.

Ooooooooh! I nearly missed this trip! Noisy but exciting!
Don't like the look of those crocs though!

An Airboat - just like on the old US TV series "Gentle Ben". Now, dear Aims, at least there wasn't a bear on the boat!

The little alligator was kinda cute - from a distance.

(Yes, I'm very aware I blog from a land free of "eat you up" or "poison you nastily" critters and animules. The worst attacks I get are from a hungry or bored or annoyed Zebbycat.)

I'd have freaked at the snake too. So sorry I have not been commenting lately - you know the reason why! I shall be calling by more often now.

Wow~A ride on an airboat. That's pretty cool. I'd like to do that next time I visit New Orleans.

And thanks for not posting photos of the snakes.
