My Dolly

This is Dolly.

She is about 16 years old and I have had her since she was a kitten.

We lost her brother last year just before Christmas because of renal failure.

Now Dolly has been diagnosed with it.

She isn't feeling very well these days and has lost a lot of weight. Medications that the doctors had her on have killed her appetite and I am struggling with my anxiety over this. Struggling so much that I have broken down and asked my own doctor for something for anxiety as I am having trouble coping. Part of this is due to my past mental breakdown. I always knew there would be something that might trigger it again and Dolly's illness is it.

She doesn't seem to be in any pain and I won't go through what we did with Deeb last year. It is just not fair.

At the moment I am doing everything I can for Dolly and I don't feel much like blogging. When the mood strikes and perhaps while Dolly is napping - I'll get on with the story. Until then - pray for Dolly and for me too.

Poor you aims. It is so hard when one of our pets is ill, or we lose them. I have been through this too. I struggled over whether I should have tried harder to prolong the life of our cat Maisie, but she was miserable and couldn't eat, so I just hope we made the right decision.

My heart goes out to you.

I'm so sorry to read about Dolly. We have kept cats since 1976 and I know how devastating it is to lose one for whatever reason. I wish you all well and will be thinking of you.

Oh aims, my heart goes out to you and Dolly.

My cats have been a lifeline for me during my breakdown and recovery. My eldest, Snowy is now 12 and I regard every day with her as a bonus, but no matter how much I try and prepare myself for the inevitable, I know it will be hard.

So hugs from France, my thoughts are with you both.

Awwwww (((hugs)))) for you and for Dolly. She is beautiful and sits prim and proper just like my Bubble does. I lost Tinker just before Christmas (2002) and I had her for 15 years. It is so hard.

I feel for you. You just take care of yourself. Your friend knows you are doing your best for her.
Hugs and prayers your way.

Having just lost a cat I had for 22 years recently,I understand how you feel. But thats one of the things we have to accept if we keep pets. Every time we loose one,I say no more, but I always relent. Now we have another sweet cat that we have adopted as she had no home and she has settled with the other two cats and large bouncy german shepherd we have.
You will do whats right for Dolly Aims of that I am sure

something made me come here today. funny eh?

My sweet JR was 16 when he moved on. Healthy as a horse his whole life but for the last year. He was the goodest creature there was, just a mush of grey furry love.

The thing I figured out sweetie is that we wrap ourselves in these lovely animals because they bring so much unconditional love - and they're a hoot to watch.

When they get sick or suffer or leave us it is a bit like that wake up slap. It made so many things that were hurtful in the world feel stronger to me. Any one loss brings with it pieces of all the loss that came before.

I am so sure that animals pass on to such a wonderful place. How could they not, being such pure souls. I know JR is there - never having to use the litter box again lol - he hated peeing, odd isn't it?

You have my e-mail and all my love. My Siren and Mia send love as well. As does JR. He's always hanging out in my heart.

I'm so sorry to hear you're not coping Aims and that Dolly's health is failing. I know what it's like to have a beloved pet so poorly that there's only one option. :(

I'm sending positive vibrations and oodles of Reiki healing to you both m'dear. x

Oh, poor Dolly and poor you. So many cats seem to get this wretched renal failure.
I lost two of mine through the same thing. Its a problem with having animals, the heart ache when they come to the end of their health & lives.
I have never got another animal since losing my last three. Couldn't face it.
((Hugs)) and prayers. X

Hi Aims, it's bound to bring up past feelings. It's all about letting go, changes, and grieving. None of those are easy with or without other issues still in the background. Hugs

Aims, I know I've not been around much! She had stones, which she passed? I take it you have definitely had her checked for cystitis? Very common in aged females. Very painful, anti-biotics and pain-killers req'd.

You know in your heart of hearts that you have given her a wonderful life, a lot of cats don't get a chance. Wishing you all well. Massive hugs from across the ocean. Debs ((((XXX))))

Aims,
So very, very sorry about Dolly. It is so very painful to see a pet sick and know how it will end up. She is beautiful and I wish I had a huge magic wand to make it better. Then, don't we all.

Sending cyber hugs to you.
