Another Award Weekend

Another weekend – and another day to say Thank You for two new awards. For those of you who notice – I have had these two awards posted for a while and I haven’t yet got around to thanking the two wonderful ladies who gave them to me.

First of all I would like to say thank you to Sweet Irene over at Sweet Wood Talking for her Busy Bee award. And also a big thank you to Lane over at Lane’s Write for her Less Than Three Award. I have to admit that one took me a while to figure out – well to be completely honest – The Man had to show me what it meant. Turn it sideways and you’ll see a heart….isn’t that sweet?

This past week I had my world rocked by a discovery I made while browsing my sitemeter. I kept coming across a search to my blog through The Issue.com. Upon further investigation I found that they had chosen my post about My Father’s Funeral to make their list of The Best of the Blogosphere.

Here is a quote from TheIssue.com: The editors at The Issue act as a human filter to the unregulated blogosphere, sifting through thousands of untamed blog posts to compile the genius of the wisest people into a simple, easy-to-read newspaper format. The Issue combines the first-rate editorial standards of a news daily with the perceptive observations of bloggers to form a fusion between the quality of your trusted newspaper and the unabashed insight of the best blogs.

I was flabbergasted to say the least when I learned that they had chosen one of my posts out of the thousands that they read to feature on the Best of the Blogosphere. I can only say a humble Thank You to them as well.

I have said this before, but I need to say this again here. I am humbled when I receive an award. But the actual thoughts – and now the inclusion of one of my posts – help goad me to keep up with the writing. The Wailings (my book in progress) is a long way from the end of this writing journey. But I am hoping that when it is finished, it will be of a quality that someone will find it worth publishing. Not for the act of ‘being published’ but that my journey through hell will help those who are lost in that land where asking for help is almost impossible. And that it will show those that are abused that there is hope somewhere – somehow. That eventually – the beatings – mental and physical – will end. And finally – that life on the other side of that door is well worth living.

Thank you all for your continued readership and support.

Congratulations on your awards and recognition. I am planning to send someone to your blog who is plagued by similar circumstances. Keep up the good work.

That's wonderful news - many congratulations! It makes the whole thing begin to seem real and worthwhile doesn't it, when formal recognition comes?

I'm wondering if The Man has had a chance to have a look at Lulu.com btw.....? It seems to me that may be our best - or at any rate our most direct - way forward into publishing.

I told you I think, that the people at the British Library believe that the future of publishing lies with the internet, and that there will eventually be such a thing as an 'e-book' which people can download. Amazon have already brought an experimental one out I believe - but it's currently available only in the US.

You deserve the awards Aims. I don't read a lot these days but I am touched and entranced by your tale, more so because it touches chords with me, thankfully not from my family but my ex.

Keep on writing and I do hope that publisher comes through.

I hope I don't end up leaving this comment twice - if I do please delete me!

Well done for all your very well deserved awards and know that even with your blog you have given people (I for one anyhow), a lot of hope already of what may be on the 'other side'.

Thank you for your inspiration. X

This speaks well of the credibility and quality of "The Issue.com." For, those of us who are mesmerized, on an ongoing basis, by your talent, have had the highest admiration of, and regard for you all the while. We know a really good thing when we are addicted to her! [smiling a "proud-of-you" smile]

Congrats on the neat recognition!

Thanks for stopping by to visit my blog. You should feel very proud that your blog post was chosen. I'm thinking that the book you are working on will be a great help to many. I wish you well as you continue writing it, and I'm sure that writing the book is therapeutic and healing.

This is silly - my email is jonanacoe (at) gmail.com...

I'm in 'northern bc' so as much as I'd love to come for a coffee, I think it would be a loooong drive if you're near to Calgary. However, next time I'm in Calgary and environs, I'll be sure to plan to meet you!

SITH - Thank you ever so much!

Dawn - Please send them along. It is for those exact reasons that I am writing this story.

Dearest B - I thought of you immediately and that the British Library is impressed enough with your blog to include it in their library. Again - kudos to you for that. I still have to ask The Man about Lulu - but I will and I will let you know.

Joy - You know you can comment on anything my friend - Now I'm almost sorry that I told you guys so much - almost!

Lola - I think War Child says it all - there are so many great writers out there that blog. The recognition sure is exciting tho..

DnD - And - I'm assuming - that is why he's an ex?! Just as long as these chords are kept far away...abuse is the worst thing. It causes so many things...

Billy - Thank you my friend. And yes - I do think Dnd has the heart of a lioness...you know they are far more fierce than the males...

MC - there is hope my friend - there is!! And when you walk through that door and slam it behind - it is gratifying!

John-Michael - You are so sweet! Thank you! (I'm blushing)

Retiredandcrazy - Well - I don't know about that..but I can keep hoping....Thanks!

Thalia's Child - Ahh - he's still younger than me...sigh...and I'll be sending an email off to you...thanks...

Lane - Thank you - you know how much it all means...

Jamie Dawn - Thank you for your kind words. Each word that is written is another bad memory torn from my heart...

Breezy - We've come a long way from the beginning haven't we? From bears to baring it all...
